Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first EP, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released on Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in fame. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her songs online, including her independent single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out July 21st the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her perform on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. In December 2008, it was revealed that Rihanna had hired by Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his single Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to appear on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a a music video. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. In November, 13, she released two additional singles entitled The No One or Pdigree. She then appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. In February, her music video to this track debuted. It has had over three million YouTube views in just one week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
